Concerts at St. Mary's

St Mary’s Church has a magnificent acoustic for live music and we are delighted to welcome a range of musicians each year to perform before an appreciative audience. Our Saturday concerts, for which there is an admission charge, begin at 7.30 p.m. and refreshments are provided during the interval. Events on other days are usually free, of shorter duration and family-friendly. Please check below for further details.

Choral Evensong led by St Mary’s Church Choir.

“Teach me O Lord by Thomas Attwood, “There shall a star appear” by Mendelssohn and a setting of the canticles by Basil Harwood.

Free admission with a collection for church funds.

Sunday 18th

6.30 p.m.

Choral Evensong led by St Mary's Church Choir.

"O Lord my God to thee" by Jacques Arcadelt, "O for a closer walk with God" by Charles Villiers Stanford and a setting of th canticles by Ralph Vaughan Williams.

Free admission with a collection for church funds.

Sunday 25th 

3.00 p.m.

Gina Watson (soprano) with Akiko (piano) gives a family friendly short FREE concert followed by tea and cakes.

6.30 p.m.

Choral Evensong led by St Mary's Church Choir.

"Turn thy face from my sins" by Thomas Attwood, "O Saviour fo the World" by John Goss, a setting of the canticles by Herbert Sumsion.

Sunday 25th 

6.30 p.m.

A sequence of Words and Music for Passiontode led by St Mary's Church Choir.

Free admission witha collection for church funds.

Good Friday 30th

7.30 p.m.

The Passiontide Cantata "Olivet to Calvary" by W H Maunder performed by St Mary's Festival Choir, directed by Beverley Howard, with Anne Clements, organ, and Chrios Moore, Baritone.

Free admission with a retirning collection for a local charity.

April

"Christ is risen formt he dead" by George Elvey, "Christ the Lord is risen again" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and a setting of the canticles by Thomas Attwood Walmsley.

10.30 a.m.

A service of Choral Mattins, led by St Mary’s Church Choir.

"Christ is risen form the dead" by George Elvey, "Christ the Lord is risen again" by Eric Thiman and a setting of the canticles by John Dyson.
