In the early church Friday was often kept in Lent as a strict fast day to recollect the Crucifixion.
In more modern times we have used it as a day to restrict our eating and use the money saved to support food giving charities.
Alison is arranging a weekly Lent lunch of bread and soup on Fridays on Zoom, starting on 19th February at 12.30 (till 26th March).
At the end of Lent we will make a donation via St Mary’s, to our local Foodbank.
A part of the event might include sharing our favourite soup recipes.
