Distribution of Holy Communion
Since Covid has been part of our lives St. Mary’s has had a number of ways to distribute Holy Communion which have sought to practice very good hygiene. In general Covid is not as prevalent but still of concern. The PCC discussed returning to some of the familiar pre-covid practices but keeping options that place more emphasis on a higher level of hygiene. There are two particular changes from Easter.
The first is to use the communion rails as the place to receive communion, with a little separation
or choose to continue to stand at the head of the aisle
both are just as acceptable
The second is to receive wine from a chalice
or to continue to use a small cup
both are just as acceptable please indicate to the communion assistant your preference.
The people distributing communion will start on the pulpit side, work to the aisle, distribute to people standing there and then continue to the lectern. They will then begin again at the pulpit side of the rails.
It may take a few weeks for us to feel comfortable with these changes. Please do speak with each other about what is proposed along with Alan and members of the PCC.
